(Photo/Link) Man in pink tutu fights breast cancer

I love fun and quirky fundraising ideas. This one made me smile!

The Tutu Project was started by New York Photographer Bob Carey after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. It started as a coping mechanism, but the idea matured into much more than that. Bob’s photographs have helped spread awareness of breast cancer and in recent years it has generated income for The Carey Foundation which supports women diagnosed with breast cancer, survivors, and their family members.

Cancer is a scary disease which deserves to be taken seriously, but to those of us who have gone through it first-hand we know that sometimes smiles and laughter are just what you need to get over it.  Bob Carey says it best on the website “Oddly enough, her cancer has taught us that life is good, dealing with it can be hard, and sometimes the very best thing…we can do to face another day is to laugh at ourselves, and share a laugh with others.”

You can view their website here or you can follow their progress on facebook here.  If you don’t have time for all of that, click here to see the photos of Bob in his tutu.
